‘ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES’ OF METAL-TO-PLASTIC CONVERSION OFFER COST EFFICIENT SOLUTIONS FOR MEDICAL OEMS

A recent article published on Plasticsnews.com related some of the exciting benefits available to Medical Device OEMs looking to create more affordable and efficient medical device manufacturing options with the use of metal to plastic part conversion.

The article cited examples of medical device manufacturers who were able to reduce the costs of some medical parts from $300 down to $20, improving their products’ bottom line for a quick payback following the initial conversion investment for a new plastic injection mold.

Some of the reasons medical OEMs are deciding to turn to metal-to-plastic conversion include cost pressures from both insurance companies and government regulations which make cost-efficient manufacturing a giant priority, as well as other potential benefits from using cheaper, easy to manage plastics to provide disposable products used to reduce the risk of contaminants and infectious diseases, a major concern for hospitals and other medical agencies involved in post-operative care.
